The Puzzling Madness of John A. Macdonald is a scavenger / puzzle hunt set in Toronto one week before Confederation. The game uses historical maps, handbills, locations, and characters to bring 1860s Toronto to life. In the game, groups of 8-12 players gather clues, solve puzzles, and talk with period characters to track down unknown saboteurs whose actions threaten Confederation itself. We’re looking for spirited actors to help us bring these characters to life!

CHARACTERS:
AGNES – female, 25-40, any ethnicity. Headstrong, impulsive, devoutly religious, skilled diarist involved in backroom politics.
ANDREW – male, 40-60, any ethnicity. Blunt, cold, and racist; Former President of the United States.
Please note that we will not be providing a makeup professional for this show.
DATES:
Rehearsals: June 15th — June 23rd
Performances: June 23rd — July 21st (except June 30–July 3)
Weekdays: Two performances, 2p and 6p. No performances Mondays.
Weekends: Three performances, 10a, 2p, and 6p.
All rehearsals and performances will take place in TORONTO, ONTARIO.
Please note that all performances will be outdoors and will require standing/walking for extended periods of time in period clothing.
We will be casting TWO actors for each role. Each actor will be expected to perform on two weekdays and one weekend day each week.
COMPENSATION:
Payments will be made weekly on Fridays starting June 23 as follows.
Rehearsals: minimum $160 ($16 / hour, approx 10 hrs)
Performances: minimum $1280 ($320 / wk: $16 / hour, approx 20 hrs / wk)
AUDITION PREP:
Auditions will be held by appointment only. No monologue — sides will be provided. Be prepared to improv. No prior historical knowledge required.
