A new revelation from director Christopher Nolan has fans of his films buzzing. On Thursday’s episode of the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Nolan revealed that he had considered two of his Oppenheimer cast members for the role of Batman in his 2005 film Batman Begins.
Josh Hartnett was one of the actors Nolan considered for the role, but he never ended up screen-testing for it. “It never got that far,” Nolan said. The role eventually went to Christian Bale, who went on to star in the next two films in the trilogy, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
Nolan also revealed that he had considered another Oppenheimer cast member for the role of Batman, but he didn’t name the actor. “I had another actor in mind, but I won’t say who it was,” he said.
The Oppenheimer cast includes Hartnett, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh. The film, which was released in 2004, tells the story of Robert Oppenheimer, the scientist who led the Manhattan Project and developed the atomic bomb.
