Today, it was announced that Isabella Gomez, star of the hit Netflix series One Day at a Time, will be leading the cast of the upcoming indie horror film The Mannequin. The film is written and directed by John Berardo, who is best known for his work on the horror film Initiation.
The Mannequin is one of the latest projects to receive an interim agreement from the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA). This agreement allows the production to move forward under the Ultra Low Budget Agreement, which is designed to help independent filmmakers create projects with limited resources.
The Mannequin follows a young woman who is haunted by a mysterious mannequin that appears in her home. Gomez will play the lead role of the woman, who must confront her fears in order to survive.
Gomez is best known for her role as Elena Alvarez on the critically acclaimed Netflix series One Day at a Time. She has also appeared in the ABC comedy series The Goldbergs and the Netflix series Alexa & Katie.
The Mannequin is set to begin production later this year. It is produced by Berardo and executive produced by Gomez. No release date has been announced yet
