Disney Branded Television announced today that Danny Glover will play Santa Claus in its forthcoming original movie, The Naughty Nine. The teaser for the project, which will be released on the Disney Channel and Disney+, and the first photo of Glover in character were also released.
The Naughty Nine follows a group of nine mischievous kids who are sent to the North Pole to learn the true meaning of Christmas. With the help of Santa Claus, played by Glover, the kids embark on a magical journey of self-discovery and learn the importance of friendship, family, and the spirit of the holiday season.
Glover is best known for his roles in the Lethal Weapon franchise, The Color Purple, and Dreamgirls. He has also appeared in numerous television shows and films, including The Royal Tenenbaums, Angels in the Outfield, and The Saint.
The Naughty Nine is directed by Emmy-nominated director Paul Hoen and written by Emmy-nominated writer and producer, David Broyles. The movie is produced by Disney Branded Television and will be released on the Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year.
