It’s official: The Daily Show will return to Comedy Central with new episodes post-WGA strike on October 16th. After months of speculation, the network has finally revealed its timetable for the show’s new host.
The Daily Show has been without a permanent host since the departure of long-time host Jon Stewart in 2015. Since then, the show has been hosted by a series of guest hosts, including Trevor Noah, John Oliver, and Hasan Minhaj.
Now, Comedy Central has announced that the show’s new permanent host will take his/her seat behind the iconic desk in 2024. In the meantime, the network will continue to feature guest hosts, including former Daily Show correspondents Samantha Bee, John Hodgman, and Aasif Mandvi.
The Daily Show’s return will mark the end of a long hiatus for the show, which was forced to go on hiatus due to the WGA strike. The strike, which began in November 2018, was the longest in Hollywood history and lasted for more than six months.
The show’s return will also mark the beginning of a new era for the show, as it searches for its new permanent host. The network has yet to announce who will take over the show,
