Chicago Med is adding a major new character to its cast in the wake of an exodus of some of its most beloved characters. Casting is underway for an early thirtysomething male Emergency Department doctor who has a past connection to Dr. Charles (played by Oliver Platt).
The new character is described as a “charismatic, confident, and ambitious” doctor who is “not afraid to take risks and challenge the status quo.” He is also “a natural leader” who is “not afraid to stand up for what he believes in.”
The new character is expected to be a major part of the show’s ninth season, which will be the first without some of the show’s original cast members, including S. Epatha Merkerson, Yaya DaCosta, and Colin Donnell.
The new character is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the show and help fill the void left by the departing cast members. He will also be a welcome addition to the show’s already diverse cast.
