Matsuri Star Talent Search is a talent competition show open to any age and any talent during the unique 2-day Japanese Festival at the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre!

The Top 14 Contestants Vie for the $500 Grand Prize!

We welcome acts of all styles and shapes of amateur performers; singing groups, dances, gymnastics routines, instrument pieces, magic tricks, skits, Taiko performances, joke-telling, poetry performance, martial arts kata routines and more!

We have exciting news and are opening online auditions this year!

Please note that the finals take place during the Nikkei Matsuri on September 5th and the 6th and if you advance to the finals you must ensure that you are available on both of those days.



Sunday, June 14 | 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Sunday, July 5 | 10:00am - 3:00pm

Finals will be held during the Nikkei Matsuri

Semifinal: Saturday, September 5, 2020

Final: Sunday, September 6, 2020

Project Title:  Nikkei Matsuri Festival
Short Synopsis:  The Nikkei Matsuri Festival is one of our major and most awaited events of the year. It will be held at the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre and we typically have an average of more than 14,000 people come through the festival each year. It is a summer festival enjoyed by families and numerous communities in Metro Vancouver. One of the popular programs at the festival is the Talent Search. Every year the festival hosts the show to discover new talent and provide contestants the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of panelists who are local professional artists. It has been a big part of the festival and visitors enjoy watching the next rising stars. This year, Nikkei Matsuri will be held on September 5 & 6, 2020 (Saturday & Sunday).
