We are looking for a diverse cast with great comedic skills to bring to life an old school romantic comedy set in the world of BDSM.
AMANDA (30ish, female) – A neurotic drama queen. Her kinky affair starts off as an attempt to recapture her youth but later becomes a confidence builder. We need an actor who can make the character relatable and funny, even when she is making terrible decisions. This role requires a lot of physical comedy and some dance skills.
DAVID (30ish, male) – Amanda’s Dominant – Brando wannabe. His brooding, devil may care demeanor is a put on to hide his insecurities. He is not ashamed of his kinks but is terrified of being vulnerable and getting close to someone. We need an actor who can be cool one moment then make the audience laugh the next at his pretentiousness.
ERNIE (30s, male) – Amanda’s Fiancé – A dentist. He’s sweet, dorky and at peace with that. He just wants everyone to get along but as a result he is naively optimistic and knowingly turns a blind eye to the the problems in his relationship.
Filming to begin in early 2022 (exact dates TBD by actors’ availability) and shot in and around Newark, DE and Elkton, MD. There will be a read through and two rehearsals prior to filming.
SAFEWORDS contains scenes of a sexual nature and anyone auditioning must be comfortable with both the material and their bodies. Nudity will be seen from the rear, profile or in silhouette. There will be no full frontal or topless female shots. We will have protocol in place and an intimacy coordinator on set to ensure the safety and comfort of the cast and crew.
