[h1]URGENT CASTING CALL, experience not required[/h1]
Hello, we are a group of 4 Nanyang Polytechnic students looking to cast a Burmese(Myanmar), Indonesian, or Filipino FEMALE actor to play the main lead role of a Domestic Helper in a short film. Acting experience not required but preferred.
Requirements for Actor:
- Appears 20-40 years old (actual age can vary)
- Able to speak and understand English
- This is an UNPAID shoot, credits will be appropriately given
Shooting schedule:
- (at least) 2 days of filming, between 14-25 November, Actual shooting dates TBC
- Shooting dates are flexible depending on actor availability, lunch will be provided
Title: Thank you Auntie
Logline: A domestic helper drops her entire schedule to bring Ah-boy’s basketball shoes to his game, but will she receive the simple “thank you” she asks for in return?
Treatment:
AUNTIE JEAN has been working for the Chan household for a little over 2 years. Her daily duties include waking up the family’s only son for school, cooking meals and keeping each room spick and span. Each day, she spends her free time in the afternoon catching up with her family through video calls.
Before she gets the chance to pick up a call from her younger siblings, the house phone blares, with AH BOY on the other line frantically asking for Auntie to deliver his basketball shoes to the game that starts in 15 minutes.
Sensing the urgency of the situation, AUNTIE JEAN rushes to his aid in a “chase sequence-esque” frenzy. Upon delivering AH BOY his shoes, her effort is returned with an “Okay bye bye” as he runs off to the game.
The apathetic AUNTIE JEAN returns home to a text from AH BOY, showing his thanks and offering to buy Auntie bubble tea when he gets back. AUNTIE JEAN lets loose a smile before resuming her daily routine.
