Synopsis: Miles is a young adult, in his 20, who is “stuck” in his science program. Unhappy, Miles dreams to change his life, but he feels secured in his comfort zone. Lucy, his beloved girlfriend will help him understanding how life can be beautiful by succumbing to his passions.
LUCY – female in her 20s. She embodies utopia, happiness, passion, love, liberty, and what being light-hearted is. She is openly showing her love to Miles. She lives for her passions. She takes time for what she loves.
MILES – male in his 20s. He embodies dystopia, anxiety, stress, and what being in conflict with oneself is. He loves his girlfriend more than everything, and she is the only link he has into a utopic, floral and joyful world.
The purpose of this short movie is to explore the sense of passion opposed to the logic, while depicting how love can be just in between to help allying both notions.
There are very few (and short) dialogs and this is a good exercise for actors since this short movie makes an emphasis on characters’ facial expressions, movements and attitude to convey sadness, stress, anxiety and of course: love, passion, and happiness.
My short movie is a project from a film directing course, at UCLA; and I am an International Student from France.
