“Waves” is a short, art-house drama seeking an all-female cast.
[An unstable mother impulsively leaves home to save her child’s happiness, but the abandonment scars stretch well into her daughter’s adult years.]
Sarah – the mother, late 30s
Anna – the daughter, 8-12 years old
Lizzie – Anna’s friend, 8-12 years old
and their older selves, two actresses to portray Anna and Lizzie in their 20s.
The characters are tough and afraid of being vulnerable, yet capable of immense sacrifice, loving and bold, insecure, selfish and human.
Union/Non-Union. Unpaid. Shooting on RED, dates September 8, 9, 10. No acting experience required. Mother-daughter duo encouraged.

*This is an MFA grad project, exploring the aesthetics of delay: stilling, repetition, the return of certain moments or slowing down the illusion of natural movement. We will re-evaluate the power of unconstructed images and work with the idea of pose as a way of allowing cinema to denaturalize the human body and build an awareness of time through experiential unfolding.
