Eric Lotz | Crew from Oakville, ON, Canada Grew up in Montreal, Quebec Interested in art since childhood, Eric grew up in the creative environment. His father was a leading advertising photographer in Montreal. His mother modeled, wrote poetry, painted and worked professionally as an actor. As a schoolboy, Eric earned income in his free time as a illustrator of architecture. He drew the homes of his clients, this work done in Victoria, B.C. In this period his work was selected for exhibition at the Victoria Art Gallery. As an artist who works in mixed media, Eric is at home with pastels, oils, plastic, and other metals. He is also comfortable working with wood. His formal training was gained as a student of The Ontario College of Art and Design. To supplement his income in fine art, Eric has become active in commercial advertising. A principal theme in Eric’s work is the world of nothing or void where the viewer is taken in with circles of colour to the point of nothing. And finds the soft feather feel of pastel brings out that feeling of nothing, a world within a world you may say. Previously, Eric’s style of work has been described as “Soft moving colours” However he is currently working on a more minimal and clean series of paint with more muted tones. He looks forward to where these new “Voids” will take him, Eric is striving to grow and evolve on his artistic journey.
