Irina Chiu | Actor from Toronto, ON, Canada Irina was born in Cologne, Germany, and lived in Germany for most of her life. She started acting in school and community theatre in Bonn. Irina also lived in the USA and Indonesia, after which she returned to Germany to earn her Master's Degree in Business Management from the University of Mannheim. She built a successful career in the corporate financial world in Singapore, before she decided to pursue acting full time. Irina received formal acting training at NYU Tisch School of the Arts Asia, instructed by John Wills Martin. She acted in many short films, including 'Song of the Firebird', directed by Tay Hongcheng, officially selected at the flExiff 2014 Australia, and Kulling which was screened at the 4th Singapore Short Film Awards 2013. She also participated in Singapore's 'Word of the Actor', and Pascal Luneau's acting workshop. Upon her return to Jakarta, Irina quickly booked a supporting role in the feature film 'Love and Faith' (2015), directed by Benny Setiawan, in which she acts as a woman throughout several decades of her life. In 2017 she produced and acted in two feature films, both directed by Sidi Saleh. In the Drama-Suspense movie 'Pai Kau', which will have it's theatrical release in 2018, Irina plays the lead role Lucy. 'This Is Not a Love Story' (a.k.a. 'Bukan Cerita Cinta'), is a Romantic-Comedy, in which Irina plays a paralyzed girl who is saved by a street vendor in Jakarta. Her interest in the areas of nutrition and psychology, led her to help her father manage a start-up company in health and nutrition consulting, which helps people to actively take charge of their own health.
