We are casting for the following roles:
Finishing is an unusual story of two outcasts who develop a strange relationship when they find themselves unable to receive pleasure from the world and out of any other options. We are looking for a group of passionate actors to bring this story to life.
We are offering paid, non-union roles for an independent dramatic short film (15 minutes) to be shot in the Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton. New emerging actors are encouraged to submit.
We are seeking individuals who are:
– Keen to build their skills in a team setting
– Interested in challenging themselves and taking risks
– Passionate about storytelling and characters
– Open to bringing their own experiences and ideas to the role
Shooting will take place in late September/early October, with finalized dates to be determined (total 5 – 6 days).
ROLES:
DASHA FEMALE 28 SUPPORT
Submit all ethnicities. Dasha is a confident, affluent and understanding
young woman who wants to make her relationship with her boyfriend Alex
work. She is patient with Alex’s struggles with intimacy, but in the end finds
that breaking up might be what’s best for both of them.

CALEB MALE 26 SUPPORT
Submit all ethnicities. Caleb is a working-class man who is carelessly naive
and hot-tempered, often resulting in thoughtless actions with harmful
consequences. These qualities reveal their nature when Caleb finds himself
in an ‘arrangement’ with his girlfriend Sara that he can’t handle.

JUNE (ALEX’S MOTHER) FEMALE 55 SUPPORT
Submit all ethnicities. June is a pragmatic and level-headed, albeit cold,
healthcare worker. She wants the best for her son, but managing her own
life leads her to having a blind spot for his troubles.
Note: Will be required to smoke herbal cigarettes.
ALEX MALE 26 LEAD
Submit all ethnicities. Alex is a somber and apprehensive young man
who only seeks to please while denying others (even the people closest
to him) the chance to reciprocate. His mother does not accept his help
openly, causing him distress. His relationship with his girlfriend Dasha
becomes strained as Alex won’t allow her to return his kindness. He’s
philosophically inclined, contemplative, and a highly principled individual.

SARA FEMALE 28 LEAD
Submit all ethnicities. Sara is a strong willed, impulsive, and confused
young woman who’s consumed by the pursuit of her fantasies. Despite
having a precise vision of what she desires, her ‘arrangement’ with her
boyfriend Caleb implodes with brutal consequences. Ultimately, she
wants what’s best for herself but has no idea how to begin to even
understand what that means.
