We are casting for a short film, non-union and low pay, to be filmed in Downtown Toronto on November 18th and 19th. The deadline for applications is September 25th, 2023.
We are looking for two actors:
Lola Edna (65-80 y.o.) – Filipino descent. Must speak Tagalog fluently. Has a musical background or is at least comfortable with singing.
Lola Edna is a mild-mannered grandmother of Noel, a former composer. She suffers from dementia and is gripped with the nuances of the immigrant lifestyle. After the death of her son, she is left under the care of Noel, made difficult due to a language barrier. Despite her condition, her musical talent and perfect pitch persists in her old age.
Noel (18-24 y.o.) – Filipino descent. Must play the piano, sight reading is not necessary.
Noel is emotionally distant and avoidant. He is responsible for the care of his grandmother and is struggling with the void of his father’s death. He attempts to outweigh his grief with his passion for music. As he learns more about his grandmother, he discovers her dreams and ambitions, along with his family history.
If you are interested in auditioning for either of these roles, please email us at [email protected] or PM us stating the character you wish to audition for. Please include a headshot and a resume/list of acting experience. We will contact applicants for sides and callbacks if selected.
