Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx has been cast as God in the upcoming comedy Not Another Church Movie. The film, written and directed by Johnny Mack, will also star Mickey Rourke as the Devil.
The movie follows a small-town church that is struggling to stay afloat. When the Devil shows up to challenge the church’s pastor to a bet, the pastor must rely on God to help him win.
Foxx is no stranger to playing God, having previously portrayed the Almighty in the 2004 comedy Soul Plane. He also recently starred in the Netflix film Project Power and the upcoming drama All-Star Weekend.
Rourke, who won an Oscar for his performance in The Wrestler, is no stranger to playing the Devil either. He previously portrayed the character in the 2009 film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
Not Another Church Movie is currently in post-production and is expected to be released later this year. It is produced by Mack and executive produced by Foxx and Rourke.
