Looking for 1 actor/actress to play a young high school/college aged woman. Open to all ages (preferably between 15 and 25 – with permission of guardians for people 18 and younger). No previous acting experience is required but it is a plus. All shapes, sizes and colours are welcomed. This character is serious, moody and very jaded. Being natural and convincing is key. I also get very inspired by actors so I may alter the role based on you.
I am a 21-year-old looking to make my first short film. (I have a youtube channel of little art videos I’ve made in the past – www.youtube.com/lauridumas and I have previously won 2nd place in The Royal mental health awareness short film competition). I have a very creative view of the world and this short film will be no different. It is a story told from the point of view of the daughter who is grappling to understand her mother and her struggles. The story takes place in a house with a few flashbacks and majestic scenes and involves 3 people (a mother, her college/high school aged daughter and her 12-year-old daughter). It is a rather dark story but it has moments of light in its comedic moments. My cinematic inspirations for this film are Sofia Coppola, Spike Jonze, Wes Anderson and Rosemary’s Baby.
This is an extremely low budget film that I will be funding on my own but I promise it will be a very fulfilling and fun experience. The actor will NOT be paid but I will provide breakfast, lunch or dinner and everything needed for the production. Filming will take place in early/mid November and pre-production will start in early October. All filming and rehearsals will take place during the weekend and depending on the actors’ schedules. I will be filming/producing/directing this with the help of 4 friends/family so it will be a very relaxed and comfortable environment but being professional and patient will be part of your role.
